 Re: Final Fantasy uh 13-14?
1 Hour and 35 minutes in:
Graphics are still good, voice acting is getting progressively annoying and the game is slowly sliding into typical Japanese melodramatic story telling.
The only character I like so far is the back guy with the gay bird that lives in this hair.

I'm about 6 1/2 hours in and the Linearity has no end in sight, I've lost all wonderment I had at the game and am down right disappointed. Games still pretty though, Hope is still a whiny dipshit with misplaced anger issues, Lightning is a massive unbearable cunt, and Vanille seemingly craps rainbows.

 Re: Final Fantasy uh 13-14?
I watch my cousin playing this game for 4 hours, I felt asleep(sadly no nerd fetish sex dream from FFXIII chicks).
Graphic and music are beautiful, the battle system is nice.
Too Linear(As usual), whiny chars, uninteresting chars, no exploration, no town, you only buy items at save point which means no shop, no choices absolutely bores me. I'm like "you call this fucking rpg?" Vanilla and Hope are annoy, I though Lightening would be interesting character but I thought wrong. I think I'll skip. I still have FFXII, I tried to play it 3 times and couldn't get passed 1/4 of the game cause I got too tired of it.
I rather finish Dragon Age before Awakening and want to get on Mass Effect 2 soon, I guess I'll pass FFXIII. Some might like the game so I would suggest that you rent instead of buying it because I doubt you'll want to replay.
I prefer Bioware and Bethesda (Oblivion owns) games over any JRPG. Western World > JRPG.
This game is for 12 years old anyways.

Supposedly 19 Hours in and it's just given me the ability to pick my own team members.

Most FF games are basically linear with some sidequests here and there, the maps just give you a false feeling of choice. I really like XIII's battle system. It's challenging at times, and switching paradigms and strategizing for fights is important.

 Re: Final Fantasy uh 13-14?
Meh, I never said the game sucked, I said I was disappointed. I just miss the World Map /cry. The Paradigm shifting is a neat way of doing it, but there have only been a few fights that really require strategic switching thus far, and I ragequit on one of them last night. Now that I can set up my Battle Team, unless the fights a pushover, I just start with Decimation (Syn/Rav/Com) . Load up Haste/Bravery/Faith/Vigilance/Weapon Buff if called for, and quick switch between Cerberus and Tri-Disaster. Trying to decide on a proper set up for at the moment, I retried out last night using Sazh/Snow/Lightning last night after I dropped the chain bar when it was close to my second stagger. Tried/Failed using Sazh/Light/Vanille after that. Edit: Third tries the charm, 10 minutes, Snow/Hope/Sazh. Lots of shifting to Protection (Syn/Sent/Med).

I typically use: Relentless Assault: Rav/Com/Rav Aggression: Com/Com/Rav (only during staggers) Delta Attack: Com/Sen/Rav Solidarity: Com/Sen/Med Diversity: Rav/Com/Med *forget name*: Com/Sab/Syn For boss fights, I switch out Diversity for a Med/Sen/Med combo to cover extreme healing when necessary.

It's all about timing your paradigms with his stance switches. During defensive/healing, you can buff yourself or push his chain up. During his offensive, Sen/Med/Med works well. My first two tries, I didn't even use a Sentinel so I had a lot of trouble keeping the healing up. But on the kill shot, I anally raped him on the first stagger. Aggression. Fang/Lightning just absolutely raped him. P.S. - Chapter 11 is really hard so far.
